Foundation Donates $27,000 To Schools

Thursday, April 18, 2013

The Lowell Joint Education Foundation is pleased to announce that, thanks to successful fundraisers this year and generous donations from Chevron, Jan & Ted Averill, La Habra Rotary and the Credit Union of Southern California, $27,000 has been approved for support of various academic programs. At the Foundationís Board Meeting last night, a $10,000 check was presented to Dr. Patricia Howell, Superintendent of Schools, by the Foundationís President, Marty Tourville. During the presentation Marty thanked the Board for their fundraising efforts this year and the special donors for their support. He said the additional $17,000 will be distributed as the schoolsí technology proposals are received, reviewed and approved during the next few months.

The Lowell Joint Education Foundation was established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2005 in response to the lack of state funding for academic enrichment and innovative programs in the Lowell Joint School District. The Foundation provides financial support to special programs such as Academic Excellence Day, technology grants for the schools, and the after-school sports program at Rancho-Starbuck Intermediate School. The Lowell Joint School District serves families in the communities of La Habra, La Habra Heights, and Whittier, California.

Donors may contribute funds or products/services to help support the activities of the Lowell Joint Education Foundation. Donations are welcomed and may be submitted via the Foundationís website at www.ljefonline.org.
