Fred Schambeck to be Honored

The Lowell Joint Education Foundation voted last night to honor Mr. Fred Schambeck as the Foundation's 2015 Honoree. He was selected for his many years of community service and support of the Foundation. Fred was a founding member of the Foundation.

Mr. Schambeck has served as a board member for the Lowell Joint School District since 1983! He has served as the board's President on numerous occasions.

Fred graduated from USC with a bachelor's degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies. He received a master's degree from Pepperdine University in Business Administration.

He is an estate planner and has lived in the district since 1969. His three daughters attended Macy Elementary and Rancho-Starbuck Intermediate Schools. He now has a grandchild attending Macy Elementary.

Fred Schambeck will be formally recognized by the Foundation at a dinner, starting at 5 p.m., on March 16, 2015, at the Friendly Hills Country Club, 8500 S. Villaverde Drive, Whittier. See the Foundation web-site for additional information and tickets (www.ljefonline.org, tab Golf Classic).

The Lowell Joint Education Foundation was established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2005 in response to the lack of state funding for academic enrichment and innovative programs in the Lowell Joint School District. The Foundation provides financial support to for special programs such as Academic Excellence Day, technology grants for the schools, and the after-school sports program at Rancho-Starbuck Intermediate School. The Lowell Joint School District serves families in the communities of La Habra, La Habra Heights, and Whittier, California, located in Northern Orange County and portions of Southeastern Los Angeles County.

Community members may donate funds or products/services to help support the activities of the Lowell Joint Education Foundation. Donations are welcomed and may be submitted via the Foundation's website at www.ljefonline.org.
